“The Reform Government Surveillance coalition (RGS) is encouraged by the progress made by the Administration and Congress to fill the vacancies on the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board (PCLOB). RGS welcomes the announcement of the President’s intent to nominate Travis LeBlanc and Aditya Bamzai to serve on the PCLOB, and urges the Senate Judiciary Committee to hold a hearing soon after their nominations are sent to the Senate. RGS also continues to encourage the Senate to act promptly on the nominations of Adam Klein, Ed Felten, and Jane Nitze, since all three of those nominations were voice voted out of committee and are ready for immediate confirmation by the Senate. The PCLOB performs important oversight and advice functions that help provide important accountability and transparency in the U.S. government’s counterterrorism efforts. The Senate should act swiftly to help ensure that the PCLOB can perform these functions effectively.”
