“Strong encryption is essential to protecting the sensitive information of individuals, businesses, and governments around the world. It safeguards personal communications, helps defend against cyber threats, and promotes trust in the digital services that billions of users access every day.

Encryption allows our users to speak their minds and foster deeper relationships, both within their communities and across borders. Safe communication and access to information impacts every corner of our society, behind the scenes and in front of them.  Recently, the Supreme Court affirmed that users “a cell-phone user is not to be viewed as sharing private information with third parties—which then can be freely passed on to the government --- just by doing the ordinary things that cell-phone users do.” 1 Encryption ensures that private information stays private.

RGS remains committed to supporting legitimate law enforcement needs while protecting the security and privacy of users. On Global Encryption Day, RGS calls on governments around the world to reject efforts to weaken encryption and instead pursue policies that strengthen the technologies that us all.”
